Taken into custody

On Friday, July 5, 2024, AARON L. BARNARD, age 41, of Bradford New York, was taken into custody and charged with 1 count of Assault in the second degree, a Class D felony, 2 counts of Criminal Mischief, a Class A Misdemeanor, 3 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor, Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor and Harassment in the second degree, a violation.

            On Friday, July 5, 2024, at or about 7:17 a.m., Officers responded to an address on Chestnut Street in the Village of Bath for a domestic in progress, male versus female, physical. Upon arrival, Officers were investigating the incident and AARON BARNARD struck a police officer in the face and attempted to choke him. After an active physical altercation with law enforcement, BARNARD was taken into custody. Both BARNARD and the Officer were transported by Bath Ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment of injuries.

           BARNARD was released from the hospital, taken back to the Bath Village Police Department for processing and then transported to the Steuben County Jail to await CAP Court. The Officer was also treated and released. BARNARD is currently on probation. Bath Village Police was assisted by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Bath Ambulance and Steuben County EMS.
