Suspicious Vehicle

On 05-14-2024 at approximately 01:00 AM, a Village of Bath Police Department officer was on routine patrol when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot of a closed business on West Washington Street. The occupant of the vehicle appeared to be unresponsive.

A welfare check on the occupant was initiated and it was determined that the occupant had fallen asleep.

An investigation yielded that the occupant was in possession of a loaded AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, a large capacity ammunition feeding device and a quantity of methamphetamine.

Richard F. Clark, age 53, of Virginia, was subsequently arrested on the following charges:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Class C Felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, Class D Felony (2 counts)
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree, Class C Felony

Clark was processed and transported to Steuben County Jail where he remains held without the opportunity for bail. Clark is a 7 time convicted felon out of the State of Virginia.
