On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, DARYCK RAWLEIGH, age 31, of the Village of Bath, was taken into custody and charged with one (1) count, Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, three (3) counts of Menacing in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor and two (2) counts of Endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor.
Officers responded to the Bath Central School soccer field in the area of Maple Heights and Charles Street for a third party call reporting a male subject brandished a firearm toward juveniles.
Upon arrival, Officers were directed to the residence in which the incident occurred on Charles Street. Officers conducted several interviews including interviewing RAWLEIGH. Investigation by the Bath Village Police revealed a dispute between RAWLEIGH and a group of juveniles had occurred and that RAWLEIGH did in fact display an illegal AR-15 semi-automatic, assault weapon. The rifle was recovered at the scene.
DARYCK RAWLEIGH was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Bath Village Police Department for processing. RAWLEIGH was then transported to the Steuben County Jail to await CAP Court. The Bath Village Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police and Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
