On 04/21/2024, at approximately 1705 hours, officers with the Village of Bath Police Department were dispatched to the area of the Super 8 Hotel for a report of an adult male having attempted to lure a 14 year old female into his vehicle against her will.
Officers were able to quickly locate and identify the suspect. The suspect was identified as Joshua S. Beem, age 50, of New Castle, Indiana.
Beem was taken into custody and charged with Attempted Kidnapping in the second degree, a Class C Violent Felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Beem was processed and transported to Steuben County Jail for arraignment where he remains held, with the opportunity for bail.
The Village of Bath Police Department urges parents to remind children to remain aware of their surroundings and educate children on the dangers of stranger interactions.
