The Village of Bath is happy to announce that Mayor Sweet and the Board of Trustees made a conditional offer of employment to Mr. Donald Lewis for the position of Chief of Police for the Village of Bath. Lewis has accepted the offer, which is contingent on a successful civil service examination and background check.
Lewis is currently a Criminal Investigator – Assistant SWAT Commander with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office. He started his law enforcement career in 1997 with the Canisteo Police Department and became a full-time Deputy Sheriff with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was also employed with the Village of Bath Police Department as a Part Time Police Officer from 2003 to 2008. In 2012, he was promoted to his current title with the Sheriff’s Department.
We are confident that Mr. Lewis’s experience and dedication to the profession of law enforcement will immensely benefit the Village of Bath Police Department and the Village of Bath as a whole.
